Our local New World has just started selling a budget range of Multi-grain sandwich bread 600g for $1.09 per loaf. And OH had a look....it's not bad either.....better quality that the Tesco home brand bread!!

Oh yeah? I betcha can't find bread not made with wheat there! ;)

Well, that is... non-wheat bread that doesn't suck.

(As in completely wheat free!)

You can get wheat free bread here....but it is expensive. Mind you...I can make a great wheat free corn bread in my breadmaker. Complete faff to get it right, so I usually make half and half corn bread with chilli.

the wheat free bread is with rice flour instead (or at least the one i tried was) its very crumbly and cuts your mouth to ribbons if you toast it!

The the wheat free corn bread I made had a cup and a bit of rice flour in it too. Supposed to use brown rice flour...but never found the stuff, so I just use regular rice flour instead.

If anyone does want any wheat free recipes, I have an excellent recipe for flourless choc brownies...one of the best i've ever tasted. Uses rice flour and ground almonds though....so no good if you have a nut allergy.
