Arrived here June last year year (07).

We both need to file tax returns in UK and NZ this year.
I've done my own in the past in UK. Wife's UK accountant has done her's but knows nothing of the rules/implications of emmigrating.

The few suggestion I've had from other sources are just financial advisors who are happy to take money off you for investment advice and say they might be able to help with tax returns. I do not want to and have no need for investment advice.

Can anyone in the ChCh area offer suggestions (maybe by PM?) for anyone that can assist with NZ and possibly UK tax returns.

They must be familiar with dual filing, the implications/rules/benefits of emmigration and understand the recent rules on offshore investment excemption and what/how to deal with these numbers and where to put them as we obviously want to try to take advantage of these!

Self and wife in full time employment in UK and NZ.
Wife was self employed in UK.
UK house being rented out for income
Investments in stock market sold both before we left and since.

Thanks

I have recently contacted Martin Reily at Sterling Tax Services (http://www.sterlingtax.co.nz/). He specialises in UK/ NZ tax. I found him very helpful on the 'phone, but can't vouch for the quality of his service as I haven't used him properly yet.

All his contact details can be found on the website above.

These guys have been recommended by others on the Forum before: www.broadbaseinternational.com

They are based in Christchurch but apparently travel quite a bit. We haven't used them yet but certainly plan to contact them sometime soon to sort out some financial bits and bobs.
