Hi all--in my last thread about health insurance I explained my situation. I was wondering, in trying to search on trademe for rental housing, what neighborhood the University of Auckland is in? I ideally would like to live in a townhome or house, but it looks like there are only apartments within walking distance of the University. Is this correct? What price is reasonable for a furnished 1-2 bedroom in that area?

Some closer area to U of Ack would be newton, eden terrace or grafton.
Those are the main area I would say quite close/walking distance to the campus. However, I am not so sure about furnished rentals. Sorry about that, I shall find out more and go back to you.

There are lots of townhouses at the lower end of Parnell. Look at the streets around Ronanyne St and Ngaoho Place off The Strand. Quite a few of these are rentals and occupied by students, often in shared groups, but I don't know how many you'd find furnished.
