Hello, glad I found this forum!

We are about to make the move from Ontario, Canada to Wellington... We have arranged for the move and are currently looking into the insurance. The cost of going through the moving company seems high (2.5%) and we are considering getting coverage by an independent insurer.

Any advice, things to watch out for when insuring independently?

Also, more importantly, any suggestions who to go through?

I have read through this thread (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16683), but I am wondering if anybody has advice specific to Canada/US...
