Just wondered if anyone here had been denied a general work visa (having received a job offer) and for what reasons?

We're thinking of handing in our notices at work before our visa has passed (so that we can take advantage of cheap flights and makes leaving our lease a bit easier too) and were just hoping to find out how strict they have been in the past and under what grounds they have denied a work visa.

All experiences/tips would be appreciated.

You can be denied on the basis of your undesirable police report or medical but as long as the job offer is genuine and full time - or over 30 hours (I think) but not a temp contract, then you should be ok.

I think if your employer is accredited and you earn over $50k you will pretty much be fine. The only real issues is for people who have to prove that there are no NZ'ers available to do the job.
