I have been looking at ways to transfer $$$ to NZ and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with specialist currency brokers? Did any of you go this route? Anyone you might recommend?

How much you looking to move? We moved most of ours over with a straight wire transfer from our bank in LA to Westpac here.

I did mine from the UK to NZ through HiFX; not sure if they are around in the US but they gave us the best rate with no fees to pay.

Got to do some more once the flat sale goes through in a few days time and will probably use them again.

I did speak with someone in their Toronto office today, and apparently they do have a San Francisco office. They do sound like a good way to go. How was your experience with them... problem free?

Absolutely problem free; it didn't take much time and it didn't cost anything.

I would highly recommend them; but have also heard good things about the others as well.

I've used HiFX for transferring some initial money out to NZ, and would also highly recommend them. Rates are better than elsewhere, certainly much better than my UK bank, and was problem free. I'll certainly be using them again.

I agree. We used HIFX and it was delightfully simple - scary even!
