What are the best areas of this District for professional families? I assume areas closer to the water are best? I've heard a lot about Devonport - it sounds great. What about the nearby burbs like Milford (realestate.co.nz and trademe seem to have lots of nice houses there) - what is it like? Takapuna a fun spot? Even further up in Torbay?
Its a bit of a trek from my work (50 min+) but there seems to be alot more to chose from as far as real estate in this area than up in the Rodney district.
Anyone else have anything to say about other suburbs in this district?

Other areas that are good on North Shore i.e. plenty of decent quality WARM rentals with good mix of families and professions might include Albany, Browns Bay and surrounding area.

Hi Dan,
This would be another thread worth looking at: http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12174
Whereabouts are you working so we can give you more specific ideas? Also will you be using public transport? Do you need access to good schools/childcare? Will you wife have a car or need to walk/push a buggy? Are you looking to rent or buy? From experience every family has different wants and needs from their home/location so a bit more info would be helpful.

Hi Dan, Depends where you are going to work..Devonport is ok if you are working in the City and will take the ferry over, however there is only 1 road in and 1 road out...very congested. I lived in Torbay for 3 years and worked in Takapuna with no real problems...then shifted to Tauranga and really started to enjoy GodZone!

Thanks for the links. Props to the posters for such in-depth takes on those areas. The more i read about the traffic, the less likely i think it is that this district is going to be an option for me unfortunately. And that really bums be out because it sounds like the perfect spot for my family.
I am going to be working all the way up in Snells Beach. The distance i could handle if it was wide open road, but thats not the case. Owell :(
