Hello to everyone,
This is my first post, but I have been reading the posts on this site for a couple of weeks or so, and I have been impressed by the general good nature and helpfulness of everybody on the site.
My wife and I are in our early thirties and have 2 young kids ( 8 and 6 ) and are seriously looking at moving to NZ - its a big family decision which is being eased by the honest advice posted on here - its not the land of low cost living I thought it was, but the general consensus seems to be that it is a better quality of living ( which is what we want for the family ) and I havent seen any posts of people regretting the decision to move.
Finding jobs is the most important thing our our minds at the moment and I would appreciate any advice anybody out there could give us. I am a Call Centre Manager in the Uk and would be looking to do something similar in NZ - are call centres as prevelant in NZ as they are in the UK? - How are call centre workers paid in comparison with the Uk and other jobs in NZ?
My wife has teaching and english degrees and is doing her masters now ( she currently works as the Head of Education for a prison in the UK and is wondering whether or not if anybody knows if you can transfer into the prison service in NZ and whether jobs are as well paid in prisons as they are in the UK - or even how many prisons there are and more importantly where they are. ( juvenille prisons hopefully ).
Hopefully with our qualifications and eperience we would be able to get residency - but I haven'tlooked into that side of it yet.
I know there's lots of questions here, but we are eager to find out as much as we can before we take the plunge so thanks in advance for anybody who can give us hand :clap
Thanks
Ian Mel and the kids
