Hi

I have an eleven year old son who is mad about Rugby. He loves playing for our local Rugby Club in the UK. Can anyone give me any information about Rugy clubs in Auckland as we will be keen to get him sorted out as soon as we arrive in June.

Thanks Destiny.

Hi Destiny,

Do you know which part of Auckland?

Cheers

Tia

PS My son had his first game of Rippa Rugby yesterday (he's 4), absolutely hilarious! Great atmosphere, everyone was just pleased when they ran the right way!

Hi

Thanks for your replies. At the moment he plays Rugby Union. We are not sure which part of Auckland we will be renting in yet as we have to find a suitable place when we arrive. The children will be going to Parnell school so we hope to be somewhere within that region but we may have to be a little further out because of cost and availability.

My question was more general as to what the rugby clubs are like and whether they welcome new members. To be honest any social clubs that we can join when we arrive will help both us and the children. Its really important to us to get the children settled into life in NZ as quickly as possible. I think they are a little fed up with talking about the move and just want to get on with their new life. Don't we all !!!!!!!

So if anyone knows of any good clubs in Auckland please let me know.

Thanks again,

Destiny

To be honest there are rugby clubs everywhere in the city. If you are living in Parnell, then Teachers Eastern in Okahu Bay domain will be very close. (just look on a map, its along Tamaki Drive about 1 or 2 kms from Parnell. ) I know they have teams for 11 year olds because my grandson is playing there. My husband tells me that the union club for Parnell is called Grammar Rugby Club but he doesnt know if they have a kids program. Teachers Eastern has a website, you can get more info there.

Yes our local Rugby Club is very friendly and is constantly trying to attract new members, and I'm sure thats the case with most in Auckland, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one once you decide on an area.

Also according to my son, rugby is the game of choice by the 'big boys' in the school playground at lunch time. (he's at primary school).
