Hey everyone!

My name is Andy and I plan on moving to Christchurch pending a formal offer from an employer.

I started thinking about moving abroad last year and my initial choices were the US, Canada and NZ. Due to qualification issues the US and Canada were ruled out.

I confess that I did not know much about New Zealand before I started my research but now I find myself quite happy that fate has pointed me this way.

I live in swansea and I love being close to the Gowers beauty. When the weather is nice I love it here and I can do all the things I love, Surfing, Cycling, Running.... However the UK's weather is not predictable :(

Obviously NZ is a very beautiful country and the weather is better and more stable which should allow me more chances to enjoy myself.

I should get the Job offer through soon and once I graduate this July there shouldn't be anything stopping me making the move.

I'll be moving by myself, I find the prospect quite exciting...finding new friends...exploring a new place etc....

The forum is great and has answered a lot of the questions I've had but I expect I'll be asking more as I go through the process.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

@dilanium...In the UK I will be a qualified Audiologist via a BSc Hons Degree. In NZ I will be working as a hearing aid dispenser for a private company.

Even though my uk degree will get me working and into NZ I need to do an MSc to get into a higher position to earn more and climb the ladder. Or I may find something else to try....ask I can't see myself doing it all my life.

Just had my contract through today! I'm having a friend check it over. Its all coming along very quickly! they propose a start date of July 1st! eek! I think August 1st is more optimistic considering my last exam is on the 15th of June.

Welcome to the forum - my OH's first degree is from Swansea and I loved the place when I visited. Rhossilli is gorgeous - and probably completely misspelt by me (should'a just written Worm's Head) :laugh

Ah cool! you were very close with your spelling rhossili...admittedly I had to look up the spelling also haha! Yeah its a lovely part of the world...only hampered by its high winds and lack of sunshine.
