Well, I'm not quite sure how this happened so fast. I had a telephone interview yesterday and as long as my registration papers come through - looks like I'm in! :raebanana And the hospital has a team that helps with immigration and relocation, so I'm happy that there will be help from that end. I wasn't planning on even starting CV-interview aspect until June when I expected my registration to come through. But I guess things happen for a reason!

Next thing to do.....telling the parents......:uhoh

Exciting news, good luck with the registration. Also really good luck telling your folks, if they are not as supportive as you would like feel free to come and vent here, there are plenty of us who have been there, done that! Fingers crossed they are thrilled for you.

Conratulations, how do you go about find a job offer, before or after submission of EOI or futher down the line. Is this a usual situation whereby possible job offers support the immigration process.....how do I find a company to help me in this, ANY IDEAS......

GOOD LUCK

it's possible to get a job offer before you start your application, but it's not the easisest to acheive. A lot depends on whether you work in an area of serious shortage - nursing, IT are a couple of examples...

the internet is your friend in terms of looking to see what jobs are available in NZ and having started your application already will show that you are committed to the move at least, which will be a bonus when speaking to recruiters/companies

also, yes people with job offers attached to their EOI applications get fast tracked (and have 50 more points too)

Congrats on the job offer. Sounds similar to me - I got the job offer about 5 months before we planned to start applying. Luckily they were willing to hold it for me. Which hospital? I will be at Chch Hospital in September.

As Dusk mentioned it's because I'm on the LTSSL. I'm a radiographer and I guess we really are in demand. Can't help you with any immigration info as I haven't even begun down that road.

The job I got is at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. The hospital sounds very similar to the one I work at right now, so hopefully I'll enjoy it just as much.

Thanks for all the well wishes. The folks have been down south for the winter and I'm expecting them back in the next day or two (hopefully all goes well).

Hi, our EOI was taken out of the 'pool' wth 150 points and sent to London a month ago. We are on tender-hooks waiting to see if we are selected to apply for residency. I have just sent off my NZ Nursing Council Application.

I would love to apply for a nursing position in/around Auckland which would speed up my families chances. I have read that some people manage to get job offers before receiving their NZ registration. Is this really possible?

Hi Argonaut.

I'm not in nursing, I'm a radiographer. But if nursing is on the LTSSL like radiography (which I think it is), then I don't see why you couldn't get a job offer while waiting for registration. I was just doing "research" with the district health boards. Just contacting them to get info about the different facilities so that I would have some ideas of where I would like to work. Their HR department passed my info off to the department managers who contacted me. Did an interview and they offered me a job...and willing to hold it for me pending registration and visas. I'm still just kind of going with the flow on this!

Here's a couple of websites that you might find useful.

www.moh.govt.nz/districthealthboards - This site has the 21 district health boards in NZ. Follow the link to DHB Websites and then choose the DHB you want to look at. They have employment info on each site.

www.aucklandhealthcareers.co.nz/ - This site has info on the 3 DHB in the Auckland area. There is a job search link on there. It also has a cool little video when you first log on that gets me pumped about going to NZ! :clap

www.seek.co.nz/index.ascx - This is the SEEK job website. Just put in nursing and Auckland and tons of jobs will come up.

Good luck with everything!

hi

to the questions about job offers before EOI.

i am a specialist nurse and using an agent for the immigration process.

our agent (who are excellent and i can highly recommend) told me to get my stuff off to the new zealand nursing council asap. they also said that it was fine for me to apply to district health boards (DHB) straight away. on the application for dhb jobs form there is a part about do you have nz registration for nursing and if not what have you done about getting it ( you free write in that bit eg stuff sent off etc or in process of). i emailed the dhb about this eg not having nurse reg yet and not having EOI even sent off and they were fine, in fact actively encouraged me to apply.

as many many people know a job offer before or at point EOI is submitted gets you extra points, well worth having. As all my info is from a nursing perspective it may or maynot help, hopefully it will!

there are hundreds of detailed excellent postings on the forum, some of which have links and step by step info to make the whole process easier. have a search around putting in things like "job offers", it is mind blowing what these guys have found out. Fantastic forum for people begining the journey (like myself).

congratulations Leanne and good luck with your folks.

Argonaut, all advice above is spot on, I sent off for my nursing reg in between applying for the job and going for the interview and sent in the EOI when I had the job offer.
