Hi All:

I am working for a large IT company in Auckland and was hired on contract basis with a chance at getting a permanent offer at the end of 6 month (21 Jan 08 - 29 July 08). I was recently notified that they will be offering me a perm at the end of my contract. My company is also registered with Immigration so I can get the process fast tracked if I wait till July.

My question is, should I wait till July to file my EOI or should I go ahead and apply right away. If I apply now, my points are at 130 and if I apply after July my points are over 140 cos of the job offer.

So what do you guys suggest? Do I have to pay $400 each time I apply for EOI?

I'd say start getting the required paperwork together for now, whatever you decide about submitting the EOI.

If you can get any documentation from your employers to verify that they will be offerring you permanent employment I think you could use the points now?

Hi Dusk...what kind of paper work would I need? When can I find out more about this?

Here are links to the EOI form, and the notes about filling it in. The paperwork is to prove everything you put on the form. I expect if you do a Search on this site where we are, people have already put up a list on a thread somewhere.

The www.immigration.govt.nz site also has a search engine, and in theory, EVERYTHING we ever want to know is there!

...the paperwork you will need is listed on those links, but basically you will need to have birth certificates, qualifications, police checks (for every country you have lived in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years) evidence of relationship if you have a partner

once you start the process you will also need to have a medical, but as the results are only valid for 3 months not worth doing that before you kick things off.

I think the link JandM has kindly posted will also show you the kind of document/info I was talking about your employer needing to supply you with, but basically it will have to include the job description, hours, salary.
