It's rice you want to get paid in, not peanuts. The price of rice has increased by 50% in recent weeks. Moving on.
I don't think either NZ IT employers or the NZ government really get that they have to make the package attractive to get people to travel to NZ. We got a pretty good deal as they go, and it was still only a bit more than we'd have settled for. We weren't exactly jumping up and down proclaiming 'we're rich!' etc. It must put a lot of people off. Okay so they get the adventurous types and it weeds out the time wasters, but that doesn't mean they're getting the best people, or even enough people.
On the other hand, at least there's little chance of us being made redundant! :)

Thanks for the info. Chiba. Seems like I am going to get WTR next week. Then I am planning to come to Auckland/Wellington by May/June. Would be grateful if you could provide tips on finding IT Security/Systems Management jobs in these two cities.

Chiba,
I wish if I could forward this report to my CO. I am from IT security / Info. Security background (it's one of the jobs where people are 'difficult / very difficult' to find).
Cheers,
Mahesh

I got the WTR invitation and Work Visa Form a week and submitted my application this week. This should not take more than 5 days.
I am eager to get a job by visiting NZ in May mid/end. Any clues- how to go about it? My field of specialisation is IT Support, System admin and IT Security. Which recruitment agencies are good in Auckland and Wellington regions?

Fantastic news Mr. Uberoi. We wish you all the best.
I feel you need to be extremly organized and meticulosly plan your trip to New Zealand. Start talking to as many recruiters as you can right away and schedule interviews. You should sail through as the profession you are in is facing a severe resource crunch as per latest reports.
