Hi,
My wife and I are hoping to move to Hawke's Bay but think it'll take a couple of years to get organised. I have a business to sell and the house etc. Is anyone else really starting to worry about moving in the current economic climate?

i know there is never an ideal time to make a big move but i just worry that the housing market will crash and we'll either never sell or not make any money on the house.

i am one of life's worriers though :D is anyone in the same frame of mind?

Nothing unfortunate there :D
wish i'd done it straight from Uni. would have avoided wife number 1 for a start and wouldn't be sitting here getting balder and greyer (is that a word) trying to work out if my assets outweigh my debts :wah

Hope you make it :cheers

Hi and welcome. We share the same selling house concerns but until we try we won't know! We need to be there by next Feb but I'd like it to be sooner, alot will end up depending on the house I guess. Good luck with it all. :)

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, same feelings really. Just wondering if it would be a good idea to try and sell up now and then rent to try and avoid any crash :wah If we do that though we'll have to pay a fortune in rent and of course don't know for sure yet if we will actually make the move. Perhaps we should just sit tight and go with the flow :yes

Good luck with your plans.

Welcome to the forum. :cheers

We are both from Scotland originally, and given the footie results this season I'm happy to be moving to the otherside of the world. ;)

We just put our house on the market last week and I have to admit the economic climate is worrying, hopefully falling interest rates will help steady the market.

Welcome to the Forum!

There is a wealth of information to be had from many a friendly folk here. There are also plenty of ears if you feel the need to vent/rant about anything and also plenty of shoulders to cry on if the urge takes you.

Good luck with everything

Hi Steviebhoy
We are in the same situation as you, we also have a business, house and Industrial Units to sell. I don't think it will be easy selling our house as we built it oursleves 5 years ago and it is on it's own which some people don't like. I don't think there is ever a good time to sell as it's supposed to have been bad in the housing market for the last 3 years and now if you read the papers it's getting worse. We are of the opinion that everything sells at the right price. We have provisionally sold the units but may keep an interest in the business and take and income for a couple of years to help us along.
Could you keep an interest in your business?
Good luck with your plans.

Thank you everyone for your replies not been online for e few days and was shocked to see so many people offering to help.

This forum is certainly a mine of information and support.

We are going to the new life nz presintation in Glasgow tomorrow. We wont need a consultant as we will have enough points for skilled migrant visa but it was in town and seemed too good an opportunity to miss.

Thanks to all the bhoys giving their welcomes i'm off to the game on Wednesday so fingers toes etc crossed and keep the faith remember 1986 for those old enough.

Cheers all i'll let you know how the new life nz goes

Stevie

Ian&Lisa I have a dental surgery so not really practical to keep an interest as if i'm not there it's too difficult to keep tabs on the income etc. Hope it all works out well for you.
