when do most people book flights . I presume the earlier the cheaper .

Do they get booked up in advance or can you leave it till a week before or so . We would be wanting to sell house first - so can not book now . Had bad experience last house move so would not feel safe until had handed keys over . What do others do ?

We we're lucky...and when I look back I can't believe we did it....but, we just booked the flights 4 months away...and hoped for the best!!! We completed on house a week before we left...lucky eh!!

We got so fed up with 'shall we book or not' that we just thought....book it, if we dont sell, we will rent it out or go for a reccie.

It worked out in the end, but was V stressful trying to get things to slot into place!

For selling our house, we asked for a quick exchange of contracts, (with deposit!), but a slow completion. This gave us great security and meant we could organise everything in the gap in the middle, including booking flights. If they had pulled out after exchange, at least we would have had the deposit to cover any expenses we couldn't get back.

Cheers

We decided to bite the bullet and booked flights 8 months ahead of our planned departure :uhoh . Worked out very cost effective. Now we just hope everything falls in to place (with a bit of hard work). One thing we did find is the finality that it gave us helped lots. And if for some reason we are not ready to leave, Singapore Airlines will not charge us to change them. I'm not sure if this is standard with their tickets when bought this far in advanced, but it does give some security.

Bite the bullet and buy the tickets!

thanks for all you help . good idea about the exchange of contract . would like to move August ideally but I think we will leave it a bit longer and then book flights if we get our residency and hope the house sells . I will check if we can change flights once booked.
