Hi,
Just wondered if anyone has any tips about being patient! Although we have decided to postpone beginning the whole emigration process until I hopefully have my post-grad qualification, and I know that is being sensible etc, I just want to go for it NOW! :wah
I am so impatient and NZ obsessed I think I will drive everyone mad. It will be about 18 months till the course I have applied for is finished (if I get on it of course) and it just seems like so long to wait.
Any advice on biding my time, and not just selling everything we own and coming over on a whim??

No advice that will help you I'm afraid, everyone has the same problems and it does drag on. We are about to (finally)get some final decision, but it has taken over 2 1/2 years since we decided we want to go - finding a way - and actually going through the process.
Don't worry, the obsession never fades. Set simple targets - as in the next steps. Like you, I had to take a course and exams before planning and it was very tempting to just do enough to get trough quicker, but just think of why you are doing it.

There is no answer to it, you just have to put up with it like the majority of people did on here :laugh
or you could take up birdwatching, knitting, stamp collecting..... ;)

My OH and I first decided to concentrate on getting to NZ in late 2004. We went through our options and figured out that the easiest way for us to get there would be on a student visa with me going to Vet school. So I spent the following time getting the prerequisites for the vet school and working really hard at what needed to be done in the interim. I also found doing loads of research on NZ helped.
Now that I'm playing paperwork pingpong to Massey I'm a little less patient. Though I have SO MUCH stuff to get rid of that I'm pretty busy.

Drink.
Heavily.
Or start a rude vegetable collection.

There are benefits, it gives you time to collect your thoughts and get all your stuff sorted out, it isn't a 5 minute job anyway.
Good luck
