Just going dotty(er) looking at the NZIS website millions of times a day. Tried to keep calm, not be so impatient - but I'm not and I am :exit

So when you found out you had PR, were you e-mailed, sent a message in the 'message' box on your log in page with NZIS, did you just see your status change, or something else?

Hi Mels

My first posting on here so apologies if I've somehow replied incorrectly.

At the end of our interview I asked the immigration agent how she would inform us, she said it would be by letter but she could email me a copy of the letter so I could find out quicker. I received the email 1 week after the interview and the letter a while after.

Hope that helps

Hi,

We found out the day after our phone interview, our case officer phoned my husband and then confirmed this by email.

Forget looking at your status, this is the LAST thing too happen, we made that mistake and watched it for months. We were emailed first to tell us we would be getting a phone interview, then came the interview followed by another email saying we had been successful. Next the blue stickers in the passport followed finally by Successful on the status page.
Hope this helps.
Be patient, be very very patient

Steve is right. Don't bother looking at the NZIS webiste at this point to get news of status change. For the most part, you're truly done with that site for awhile now!!

You'll know about whether you've got PR shortly after the completion of your interview - your case officer may tell you at the end of the interview that she/he is recommending you for PR and just needs to run it all by a colleague to make sure all is in order or you may not know until you recieve that letter or email. I rec'd a letter confirming PR about a week or two after the interview (during which she told me she was recommending PR (over WTR).

Since sending in my ITA 2 yrs ago, I haven't looked at the NZIS webiste much.

Relax...and wait. You've likely got a few more loose ends to tie up with that ITA checklist - seems they usually find little things where they need a bit more information before they can schedule an interview.

That's the bit I'm having trouble with :uhoh never been very good at patience, especially with things I can't fix, just ask my OH :roll

I've got things to do, places to go - begining to feel like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland :D

Mels, I'm with you on impatience.
We've been patient for 2 years and having had an interview with a case officer this week, we are now desperate to hear the outcome.
Although we will then be impatient about selling the house.

Hi Mels

We have an email sent, virtually a copy of a letter they were sending out to us.

I must be the odd one out then cos we found out because our status had changed on the website then took about a week for officiall letter to come through...

Patience not one of my strong points either but you certainly need it in bucket loads to get through the move :yes

Best of luck

I had a letter. I never even spoke to my case officer at any point.

Was traveling so emailed my London case worker who sent me an email of the letter granting conditional PR (conditional on forking over the last payment/migrant levy thingy) and then received an official letter in the mail.

I had arrived in NZ on a work permit by that point and had to send my passport to London (I'm an American), which was odd; she said otherwise they would have to transfer my file to the Wellington office and she did not recommend it. It was fine, but odd to be in a foreign country w/o a passport for 2 weeks.

Fingers crossed for everyone in this situation. I had phone interview over 2 weeks ago, when my CO said he would let me know in 1 week. I sent a friendly note this week to see where he is and got an Out-of-office reply, so perhaps he was on holiday and a little behind. Nervewracking nonetheless!

We're in California as well and had our phone interview about two weeks ago, I have a feeling we have the same CO! We haven't heard anything, just sent the courtesy email, prior to reading your post. Well hopefully he enjoys his holiday and sends us both some stickers!

To those still in limbo -
What happened to us, was during the phone interview our CO said he'd let us know in a week. Over 2 weeks passed by and no word. Then today I get an email from a new person, our 'visa issuing officer' asking to process the migrant levy!
It will probably come when you least suspect it, in a way you would least suspect:D

Yikes! Great to hear everyone is getting contacted. It's been 3 weeks since our interview, and we haven't heard anything. Even sent a courtesy email to our CO, but no response on that for 4 days either. Nail biting, but I'm sure it'll all sort out, just sooner than later! I'm amazed to hear of people being approved in mere day(s), that's great!

So many variations on how we all hear!

I got a letter saying "Approved in Principal". No emails, no phone calls or interviews, no updates on the web site which I naturally checked daily!

Except the letter went to my UK address in the narrow window between me leaving and my redirect kicking in and it never caught up with me so I remained in blissful, stressed ignorance! Plucking up the courage to email my CO I found out yesterday that I was approved on 31st March, a mere 13 days after submission! Yay!

Fortunately they're allowing me to get the blue stickers here in Wellington which helps enormously. I look forward to being reunited with all my original documents.

So, in my case, patience didn't actually help! If I'd asked earleir, I'd have found out earlier...

Is this 13 days a record? Can anybody beat that?

13 days - it's awesome. If we have a contest of the quickest PR, am sure you will give everybody a run for their money.

ITA lodged on 25th February, obtained a work visa in the meanwhile to enable Ben to start work on 12th May but nothing happening regarding the PR. Ben and I being ex-Israelis, perhaps they are searching for links between us and Mordechai Vananu....
