My OH has recieved a job offer :cheers and so we are now going down the path of a general work visa my questions (please bare with me:confused: ) are as follows:

1.) Is it possible to apply for the whole family at the same time as the principal applicant applies? (The reason I ask is because as the partner u have to prove that the main applicant has a valid visa - if I am understanding correctly??)

2.)What form exactly do you have to use for school going children?

3.)And if one of your children is only 3 should you still apply for student visa purely so they qualify for medical coverage? And if not what visa would you then use?

Sorry for the 20 questions but I have searched in vain for answers to them. I know that most ppl on this forum go via PR but any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cindy

Hubby and I came over on work visas. He had a job offer which was tied into his work visa, I had a work visa where i could find work anywhere. We applied for a student visa for our son, then 4.5

We applied the same time for everything.

As regards medicals, all 3 of us had them, but son was excused from bloods and xrays.

Unsure if you would apply for a student visa for a 3yr old but guess so.

my work visa is tied to my job, the wife can find work anywhere and the baby is on a dependants visa

Sharon, my OH job offer is in Hastings so we will have to meet up once over there! He also recieved another one in Wellington but I am not to keen - prefer the looks of Hawkes bay.

I am stressing over the medicals as I have been trying to lose weight for some time now but to no avail and my BMI is 39 - terrible I know!! Just cant seem to shake it after baby no 2 :-( Otherwise we are all very healthy.

You will just love Hawkes Bay, its fab. Wellington is nice but too busy for us!
