My husband and I are from Toronto, Canada would like to move to NZ for a year to work. He is a funeral director and embalmer and I work in the not-for-profit sector (special events/fundraising). I am trying to research this but I would love to confirm some things and ask some questions.
Am I correct to understand that we need to have a formal job offer to apply for a work visa?
If my husband gets a job offer (I think he will be able to) and then gets his visa, can I apply for one without a job offer because I am his spouse?
I hope this isn't a dumb question but I can't find anything about it online. I am eligible for for the Ancestry Visa in the UK. Will this help me in any way to get a work visa in NZ?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.:)

I THINK, if just intending to go to NZ for one year, you'd have to go for one of the work-related visas, and you'd need to arrange the job ahead of time. (Someone will no doubt be along with lots of details from their experience.)

Yes, if your husband gets his visa, you will get a work visa automatically.

I don't think your ancestry link to the UK will have any bearing on entry to NZ.

On the work visa application there is a section to specify whether you have a partner or dependants who will be coming with you so it should be straight forward as long as he has a job offer
