We went to collect our medicals yesterday with the intention of submitting our ITA at NZ House afterwards. Before the medicals I was panicking that my waist would be too big or BMI too high but I was pleased that both these were ok. When we arrived to collect them the doctor went through mine & OH's and we were fine so we both took a sigh of relief. Then we were hit with the bombshell. Our daughter (who prides herself on never having had a day off school or college due to illness) had an area of calcification on her lung. The radiologist had written that this could be due to a previous case of TB. If she had had TB we would have know about it. She had her BCG when she was 13 and she was born and brought up in the UK. She has only ever been abroad once and that was to Spain when she was about 10. The doctor was good and said he knew it wasn't TB but it needs to be confirmed by a specialist. So we are booked in on Saturday for more tests (a cost of about £260 was mentioned) with the specialist to confirm what we already know. The next thing is to find out what has caused this calcification and what treatment if any. This can be done through our GP, thankfully.
Once the specialist has confirmed it isn't TB then we can get the medicals cleared and submit our ITA.
If it's not one thing, it's another :wah

What an unexpected worry. I've heard that those patches on the lungs can be caused by any lung infection. Hope it all sorts out.

I've had EXACTLY the same problem. My X-ray showed up calcified nodules which the radiologist put down to old TB scarring. I have NEVER had TB!! (OH's X-ray was absolutely clear so if I'd had TB during our 41 year marriage she would have caught it as well and would have shown up on her X-ray). Got my GP to write a letter to say that there is no evidence of active pulmonary problems. Panel Dr got senior radiologist to review my films and he/she confirmed there were actually no current problems evident and wrote a covering letter to that effect.
When I collected our med forms from the panel Dr he didn't include the X-ray films. When I asked why he said 'it wouldn't be necessary as the covering letters stated there were no problems'. We hand carried our Application for Residency to NZ House a few days later. The guy we saw noted the comments on my med form and said we may need to send the X-ray films for assessment. So what happened a couple of weeks ago --- NZIS in London requested the films GRRRRRRRRR:mad: I wish I'd insisted the panel Dr gave me the films now as this has caused an uneccesary delay in the proceedings.
Now waiting with everything crossed :uhoh

Thanks for the reassurance Andy. We have got all our films so don't have to worry about that. No mentuion has been made of getting our GP to write a letter. Maybe the specialist we see on Saturday will be able to clarify everything. Fingers crossed for both of us (and my daughter)

What a worry, poor you. Sounds as though it will get sorted out. Hope so.
We had our meds today and its horrid the way you have no idea of outcome. For me I no have to go back to GP to get detailed report of infertility/IVF procedures which was over 10 yrs ago so surely not relevant now? Again it's the delay that's so maddening isn't it?

Exactly - just as you think you are getting somewhere and about to put the final piece in the jigsaw something comes along to scupper it.
We are hoping that she won't have to have more tests as we now have a letter from our GP stating that she has never had TB. Just hoping that will be enough.

Just come back from seeing the chest specialist. He is 99.99999% sure that she is clear but as INZ need the boxes ticked he has to go through the process. She had to have another blood test (cost £160) and a heaf test (cost unknown yet). We get the results on Friday and hope that the panel doctor can sign her medical off then. :roll
