Hi

We've just received our ITA and are currently getting all the info together. Hope to emigrate to Christchurch by Spring 2009, however before then would be nice!
Would like to say thanks to all for the info I've seen so far, but I'm sure I'll be asking for lots of advice soon as well:)

Welcome fellow Cheshireites. I was born and bred in Tarporley, schooled in Tarporley and Helsby, worked in Chester and parents still live in Delamere Forest.

How about you and I assume, of course, you are long suffering Chester City supporters! or at least another Cheshire side.

From one Cheshireite to another welcome. Born and bred Runcorn lad who decided enough was enough and had to get out of Runcorn, but who'd have thought he would move 12000 miles.

So where in Cheshire are you residing:confused:

Hello,

Welcome and good luck, we viewed the site for ages and it helped a lot.

Think it helps to be as crazy as a bag of nuts (applies to most on this here)

Just wanted to say what a brilliant resource this is......
My husband and I have just made the decision to live in N.Z.
We live in a beautiful place in Cornwall and although are not unhappy with our lot in life, believe we have found a place where we could make life better.
I work as a nurse so am currently applying for N.Z registration. My husband is self employed as a property maintanance guy but looking to finish training as a counsellor possibly at Christchurch College.
We are both in our 30's, without kids, and feel that this is our next big adventure together.
Please tell me that we're not completely bonkers!!
Haven't told our friends and family yet... any tips on that tricky subject?
Cheers xx

Hello Mrs B.

No you're not crazy :)
There's a few threads on here from the last week or so on the very topic of telling family about your decision, have a wee look around :)

Thank you for replies. Hubby and I live just on outskirts of Northwich in Cheshire, but both of us work in Manchester and have 1.5 hr commute. Looking forward to not having to do that in Christchurch!:yes

Just sent off police certificate apps and arranging medicals. Got three boxes of stuff for car boot sale and have sold our 2 classic cars - I think we mean business.

We also have 2 dogs we're bringing with us, can anyone recommend a good animal carrier (heard about Golden Arrow?) as one is nearly 11 so we'd like to keep stress to a minimum.

Reasons for emigrating - fed up with nanny state, erosion of freedoms, yobs and crime, spiralling cost of living, too much traffic & poor state transport, etc. etc.

Golden arrow are the best bet for you up in Cheshire, they down that neck of the woods somewhere. Contact nos. as follows:

You get the spiralling cost of living (fuel related) and poor transport links here basically because it is a rural environment. Cities o.k. but the rest of NZ, down to you.... but it is great though! :nice1

Golden Arrow are in Shropshire, on our doorstep (serendipitously), so not too far from Cheshire.

Thanks for your posts - esp. StevieD for Golden Arrow nos. We visited NZ late 2006 & decided we liked Christchurch/Canterbury the best, so thats where we're headed for. Medical booked for 14.05.08 & police certs ready to be sent - how many passport photos do NZIS need!? :D

Looking probs 6-9 months before we get out there, but the best things are worth waiting for...

Thanks all

Had to reschedule medical as our GP could not get us info in time for panel Dr, going next wk (worried as cutting it fine now). How I love bureaucracy :uhoh

Have all the employer refs, education together & hopefully getting police certs soon - getting worried though as our 4 mths runs out beginning of July. Has anybody ever got an extension on this? Do obstructive GP's count as a good reason?!

Hi Padfoot... Northwich eh, we're not too far away from you... good old Macclesfield.

We're also hoping to make it to Christchurch... ticks all the right boxes and has a good feel about the place.

I'll add you to our list of folk to hopefully meet up with once we make it over... we're in the early stages, but should have our EOI off within a week or so, however I guess we'll be governed by just how quick the NZNC turn OH's nursing registration around :roll

Are you using Dr. Million in Manchester for your medicals?

Keep us posted with how you get on, ta muchly :nice1

Hi

Well we've got medicals booked for next Wed, getting copies from GP files tomorrow (OH is Type1 diabetic, so could take some time!).

Red Devil, our medicals are with Dr. Tankel at Clarendon Surgery in Salford (0161 736 4529), who is about £50 pp cheaper than Dr. Million. Linda Brown is the emigration administrator & is v. helpful.

Police certs have been sent, education & employers refs all gathered together plus lots of passport photos. Photocopies of everything done. ITA will hopefully be submitted by 3rd week of June - fingers crossed.

Will keep you posted :)

No I hadn't seen about the meet, but we'd like to meet up with other like minded Kiwi bound peeps!
Fingies crossed for medical - have recently lost 10 lbs, but still worried. Wouldn't mind as I'm always doing stuff, just like good food :)

Hi

Had medicals today - not too scary. Dr Tankel is very nice, even if he did have fun getting blood out of me! Took about 25 mins for me & slightly longer for OH (who is diabetic). Had X-rays at Oaklands Hospital, Salford (cost £60 pp) and took about 20 mins for both of us. Await results & then post it all off with all the other ITA stuff.....

padfoot
24th June 2008, 10:36 AM
Well the ITA has been sent today with what seems like half our lives in it!
Also, sold my classic car today - so I must be serious about this :)

EOI submitted - Jan 08
EOI selected - March 08
ITA sent - 4 April 08
ITA submitted - 23 June 2008
Fingers crossed

For Northwest peeps, I can recommend Dr. Tankel in Salford. A nice chap - he gave us a courtesy call when all the bloods, etc came back to say what he was putting in report and anything we should know about. Also cheaper than Manchester one!
