Hi There!
We are a family with 3 children and at the moment going through the application process for residency. My hubby is the main applicant and has qualifications that are in the long-term shortage skills list. We do not have any job offers as yet but I hubby is planning to come out to NZ to try and secure some interviews etc. We had a call today though to say that the immigration office will call back to carry out a telephone interview. I am presuming this is routine since we do not have a job offer yet. Does anyone have any advice?
Many thanks
Cat:)

yes, it's nothing to worry about, they just want to speak to you to see how well you will settle in NZ. if you do a search on this forum you should be able to find a list of the type of questions that will be asked so your OH can revise before the call ;)

oh and hello, welcome, good luck :D

hello cat

welcome to the forum and good look with all your plans!!

yeah, dusk is perfectly right, nothing to worry about.

had the phone interview a couple of weeks ago, and the officer was really
nice. sure it helped to know most of the questions, well, for me, as English is not my first language. you will find the questions here in the forum. i was not asked the finances questions (e.g. how will you support yourself), but she insisted on: what would you do if you don't find the job that you hoped for, in the area you wished etc. Maybe you want to point out your high frustration tolerance, modest expectations, problem solving skills etc. ... :clap

We are now waiting for house to sell and although the market is slow slow slow we are positive! We will be in NZ by the end of this year.:cheers

Congratulations and good luck with the house sale... we're in that position too, only it's in France and the market has slowed down there as well :roll
