My wife and I received our ITA which is great. Like many parents, we want to move to NZ to give our children a better future than they would have in SA.
We now have to get have our medicals completed
I am: 40 years old and health is OK
Kids: Twin Boys 12 years old health OK
Toddler 3 years old health OK
My wife 38 years old is Type 2 diabetic which is controlled and does not require expensive medication (i.e. she needs to take tablets not insulin injections). BUT her family history is not so good:
Father died aged 50 something from a heart attack indirectly related to an accident. Mother died aged 68 from natural causes.
Older Sister died from colon cancer aged 50
Older Brother died aged 58 heart attack
2 sisters in their 50’s and 1 Brother (59) are still alive
Question:
My question is what are our chances of passing the test? Do you think that the NZIS will reject our application because of my wife’s health/family history? Or do they look at the overall picture including me and the kids? Has anyone had a similar experience?
We will be going for the medicals in the next couple of weeks and will provide the doctor with the correct information. My wife is very nervous and I want to give her some comfort that we still have a chance.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
