Received odd phone call this morning at 8am, my son answered on behalf of myself due to deafness. My son explained that was a man but will call back later to speak to daddy. This man telling him that there been few house around us had been burglary by smash the window as force of entry....
Now  is that normal in NZ to get call about this????? we live in rural areas, so other houses mean farms....
I did asked my son did the person mentioned "police" (to check if this person is police officer as they would say "hello, this is police officer, blah blah..) and my son said no....hmmmm odd?

Can you contact your local police station and confirm the call?
Or maybe even report the incident?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. I would definitely report it to the local police.

Sounds like someone sussing out the property. Report it straight away. If it is genuine then tell them that it's inappropriate to discuss information like that with a child.

Right just got back from collect my son via visit to police station.
I explained what happened this morning.
1. No one from this station has called anyone about burgarly in my areas.
2. There is no cases of burgarly in my areas recently.
3. Did mention that my address is very close to boundary of three different police stations but they would usually communicate each other.
So I asked about this odd call etc thinking might be someone imposter as police officer checking if our house is empty as it was wet morning, ?prefect for do the job. She shrugged her shoulder and said "there is nothing to worry about" :exit
Right, thanks for help!!!
