Dear kiwis/expats/lovely people
We are hoping to move to your beautiful country early next year (all being well EOI - we were selected last week!). We are a family of five (including 3 children, 7, 4 & 1) and are looking to move close to Christchurch as that is the main place in south island for my husband to get a job). I would really appreciate a little more information on Sumner or the places close to it (Redcliffs/Mount Pleasant), how long is the commute into the centre of chch?, what are the local schools like?, prices for renting etc)...
My main priority is getting the children settled into a nice school and my husband not having to travel to long to get to work and that we will be able to afford it?!!
Thank you so much in advance - we are really excited about the move but just want to make sure it is going to be successful and any extra information will be grealy appreciated. Thank you!!!

Welcome to the forum. I can't help with your questions I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can :) .

Sumner was really nice when we visited last year, all the kids walked to school. Only slight downside for us was that it was a bit hilly.

Welcome along to the forum guys.

We've some very good friends who live out that way so will ask them as regards travel times.

Hi and Welcome

We lived in Sumner initially and hubby worked in Riccarton (fairly central). It took him around 45mins to get to work comfortably. It's a lovely drive, the only sticking point can be the causeway out of Redcliffs area but never for long.

I've got friends with kids at the local schools - I'll ask them for their advice.
