Hi we are the King family from Southport, Merseyside and I have been hanging around here for a while. I have noticed that most people introduce themselves much earlier in the process than we are so I apologise for being so rude :-)

I have got some really good information here but I thought I'd better introduce myself as I might be requiring specifics and I may have to post my own questions.

We have sold our house,which is due to complete in mid May, and we applied for PR ages ago but have been given a deferred work to residence visa (don't know why) my husband has 9 months to get a job. Husband is in IT and has spoken to agents, many are very interested and have said no problems on the job front.

We are probably going to start off in Auckland as I gather that there are many IT jobs there. It all seems such a big adventure and there is so much to organise but I am sure we will get there in the end. I am really looking forward to getting to New Zealand (even though I am a flying phobic). Who knows it might cure me. LOL.

Good luck on the jobs, there is a lot of IT work in the main centres. Have a look at SeekIT for jobs if you not already done so. Now you have the visa it should make things a lot easier.

We moved from Southport a year and a half ago, now in Napier, Hawkes Bay.

IT jobs tend to be Wellington, Auckland and possibly Christchurch (less likely).

Hope it works out - its a long and difficult process at times, not to mention expensive. But NZ is a beautiful place to live.
