We have been to Hansford medical centre today in Birmingham ( as suggested by other forum folk) :nice1 :nice1
2 adult medicals
2 children medicals
3 x-rays
2 x 2 blood tests (adults)
£420.00 in total to pay.
Fantastic centre. Will have results back in 14 days. Very friendly staff. :yes :yes
Whilst we were in with the doctor having our medicals, he mentioned that in April the cost of going through the same process will be approximately £400.00 EACH.!!! :eek :eek :eek :eek

I feel a bit guilty about that, as when we were there the doctor asked why we had come all the way from Wigan. I told him it was he was the cheapest and you can get it all done under one roof.
He said at the time 'well I should put my prices up a bit then',but it sounds like he is going to price himself out of the market.

Jo, I don't think you are to blame :no - the medical procedures are changing and this is probably what is putting up his costs :?

Get yourselves on a work visa and forget all about getting Residency from the UK if this is the case. Hell of a lot cheaper over there if i'm right in saying??????? :hopeso This is the route we're going on.

Kim. I thought you had a job on offer? Are you not going for PR in advance then?

Having just had our ITA, I was going to sort everything else out before the medical, but think I might have to rush things through before prices go up.
The new medical procedures come into affect on April 4th, right, so I have to get the ITA back to NZIS before then.
Is it possible.

If you get all your paperwork ready now and can get you meds done and back in time for mid March, I think you will be OK.

This has given us the kick we needed. Hubbie booked his medicals this morning and got the police check sent off at the weekend. Definately want it all in before April!! :hopeso

Just in case anyone was thinking of doing this to avoid getting the medicals before you go, we tried it but found that because my employer is an accredited employer you have to get a work to residence visa instead of a normal work visa... We were then told that we had to get medicals before we went. I'm not entirely sure whether that was because we were also in the process of going for PR and therefore were obviously planning on staying for more than 2 years, or whether it was because it was a 2 yr work to residence visa not just a work visa.
Just something to look out for and check. Luckily we managed to get our medicals done just in time and picked up the passports with visas from London the day before we flew!!
