Thought I would introduce ourselves as we have just joined this great site.
We are in the early stages of planning our move to NZ in 2009 and are beginning to complete the mountain of paperwork that is required!
We are hoping to come to Christchurch as we love hiking, ski-ing and cycling and think this would be a suitable place for us. I visited in Nov 1999 and despite the terrible weather loved it and have always wished to come back.
So here we are, with myself now trained as a midwife and hoping to be accepted on a work visa. I understand, hopefully correctly that midwives are in short supply and that I shouldn't experience any problems being accepted. My partner is 60 this year and will be coming in as a secondary applicant, I hope! If not it looks like I will be looking for a younger model; only joking!!
Anyway I have looked at lots of wonderful information on this site that I feel will be immensly helpful so thanks to you all for making the whole process a little less daunting.

Welcome and good luck!!

A friend of ours completed her training as a midwife when she got here and now lives in Blenheim. I don't think you will have many problems on the work front.

Hello and welcome. Lockstock's daughter 'and barrel' otherwise known as Rachel has just arrived this weekend. She is going to be working in Auckland as a midwife. It might be useful to speak to her about it. Although i'd give her a few days to settle in.

Hi and thanks for that. I would certainly be interested in finding out how she gets on and any tips on the order of paperwork would be very welcome. I will give her a few weeks though to settle in!
