How do you find furnished rentals? Are there many? Anyone know of any in Cambridge?

When I put 'furnished rentals' into the search on trademe property it comes up with precisely none!

No, there aren't many. I know Belmont Babes has just found one, but they are thin on the ground, we couldn't find one when we arrived.

Hi Carey
not many furnished im afraid. we rented some furniture, settees bed drawers and a front loading :cheers washing machine from a really cheap place in hamilton until our stuff arrived. It worked really well for us and it really was cheap as we had no money due to our house sale falling through i can dig the contact details out for you we got them to give us prices while we were stilll in england. we really did it on a shoestring.
Re the rentals if you pm me i wll tell you which company we used and the name of the lady who helped us. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULDNT GET A 4 BED RENTAL IN CAMBRIDGE ! IT TOOK HER 30 MINS TO SORT IT OUT.We had a agreement in less than an hour . We stayed in it a yar until we bought a house .

I have not seen much furnished accom when looking . I have just snapped off hand of future employer who has offered accomodation on arrival that is furnished until we get sorted ( 2months ) hopefully furniture will arrive then !!!!

I hear lots of people have loaned things off neighbours to get started ?

You can also rent an empty house and rent furniture and homewares until your container arrives. Try www.rentessentials.co.nz for the homewares and a company like www.mrrental.co.nz for the washing machine, fridge etc.
It will be cheaper than paying for a furnished rental.

Hi,
There are quite a few unfurnished rental properties available but I agree finding furnished is a problem. Sorting a rental property here is easy and most only have three month contracts, so you can move on if you wish. I think renting your homeware etc is a good idea. We bought crockery, linen etc and wasted about $2000 (not inc. a new fridge freezer/washing machine.T.V), for the sake of 4 weeks. Good luck with the move:raebanana

Yes we also wasted a lot of money like that, I wish I knew about those when I needed them too, it would have made life a lot easier and more comfortable.
