Best foods Mayo is nowhere near as wonderful as Hellman's:no. My darling brother sent some out to us.
We haven't been able to find Mint choc chip icecream anywhere and I have been looking everywhere we have been for 8 months.
To say we are in dairy central, Waikato, the lack of quality cheeses is astounding and if there are any the price just scares me
Honey nut cornflakes
One for the girls. No Always!
Proper chip shop chips
Decent dilute juices
Calpol I couldn't find anything like it
And other stuff I can't remember at the moment, so it can't be that important
You can get real Hellmans in Foodtown in Auckland now - smaller jars than Best Foods Mayo, but can't recall the price as I wasn't actually buying. I'm sure they'll roll it out to the other large towns soon.
My friend uses Pamol in place of Calpol for her children. It may be worth seeing if it's similar to what you require.

Kerry - would be interested in your bbq sauce recipe if it's not a family secret ;)
Here you go - 1 small chopped onion, 3 finely chopped (or crushed) cloves of garlic, a dash of olive oil, 1 finely chopped red chilli, 1 tsp crushed fennel seeds (although can be omitted if you can't find them or don't already have any), 55g soft brown sugar, 50ml dark soy sauce, 300ml tomato ketchup, salt and pepper to taste.
Fry the onion and garlic in olive oil with the chilli, fennel seeds and sugar.
Add the soy and ketchup and season to taste with salt and pepper.
Bring to the boil and then reduce to a simmer for a few minutes to combine the flavours.
I use it either to marinate meat before barbequeing, or just as a dip. If I want it as a dip I generally tend to blend it.

Sorry, I just read through this whole thread and I'm responding to posts many pages back:o
Moorf: You can freeze avo/guac but I've noticed a "sour" taste starts to form with any non fresh guac...not horrible but not right either. Adding a bit of lemon and squeezing all the air out of the storage bag will help keep it from browning in the fridge/freezer. I've also heard throwing the seeds back in helps with the browning.
KatieD: There is a nice little French bakery in Welly on Willis St between Dixon and Vivian (sorry I can't remember exact location) that may have just what you're after!
To anyone near Marton (between Palmerston North and Wanganui): Have you seen Irn Bru or Lucizade(sp) in your area?
Thanks,
Ana

Irn Bru is now being sold nationally in NZ so you shouldn't have any problem getting it anymore. I was told that if the supermarket doesn't stock it, to ask them to order some in.

Thanks for that, Ian. My traveling companion and her father (who we'll be staying with) are both Scottish and Irn Bru lovers so I'd like to find some as a thank you to them!
(personally I think it tastes like cough syrup:o)

There are no actual Gap stores, but there are several places that stock Gap Kids clothing amongst their ranges.

I saw some in that Cool Brittania store. Don't know how much it costs though.
Any one know where I can get some Catherdal City Cheese?
Or President Emmental??
(Sorry if this has already been requested, I haven't got the time to read the whole thread)
