Does anybody know where I can find inexpensive HDMI cables in New Zealand? I haven't seen any for less than $60. In the U.K. they're available from less than £10.

Would agree that the Warehouse would be the best bet, but if you are in North City centre anyway, would check in on K-Mart. They sell cables there, not sure if the sell HDMI ones but they are likely to be as cheap as the Warehouse if they do.

Where did you get one for under a tenner in UK? I paid nearly £20 for mine :( This was a while back though. They are expensive.

I didn't get one when I was in the UK - that's the problem!
I just checked Play.com and Argos. There's one in Argos for something like £6, but it looks rubbish. They do a better looking Wharfdale cable for a tenner.

You might try http://www.geekzone.co.nz
There is a home theatre forum that might have some info, or you could ask in that forum.

I bought one from the Warehouse for $30 today. I don't begrudge spending a little bit more in NZ, but $60 for a bog-standard cable was silly.

I recommend Cables Direct. They're cheap and their service rocks, IMHO:

Try - www.cablesdirect.co.nz - I've found both Component and HDMI cables are very cheap but great quality on this site.

We must have hit submit at the same time! :cheers
I ordered a box full of power cables for my all of my computer and audio gear from them too. Saved faffing around wiring plugs, and cheaper too.

Just noticed a blog post (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/freitasm/4920) regarding HDMI cables.

Interesting blog - comments are interesting too. Can't believe the price of Freeview boxes! I paid £25 for one in the UK, then never bothered using it as I switched to cable instead! Does this Freeview box have components I wouldn't expect, like a HDD?

It does HD unlike the UK one that can't.

Hiya Jonh&Candy,
Are you still looking for HDMI cables? PB Technologies have some at pretty good prices:

You could buy from them online as well although I think they have a few stores outside of Auckland. Went to one of them a couple of days ago and they're pretty well stocked with a lot of stuff which is cheaper than high street stores :)
