Hi, can I have a little gripe please. why are some of you guys so reticent on your profiles. Have you got something to hide. Sometimes I go to reply to someone and can't find out if my reply is going to be relevant 'cos I don't know where they're from. and its a hassel trying to go through old posts to find that info. I mean, I'm not asking for your vital stats or anything really personal, just country/county/state would be a help. OK had me say. Veronica

LOL, veronica,

I second that motion!!

It is hard when you go to answer a post and suddenly realize, hey, I have no idea if this person is from the US/UK/Canada/Timbuktu -- do I have information that's relevant for them or not??

Posting of nekkid pictures with a map to your home is optional. :laugh

Good point !!

I hold my hand up and admit that I am one of those profile retentive members.

Up until now of course, I shall hop over into the profile screen and fill in all relevent details.

I'll even put in vital statistics if it helps (but somehow I feel they would work against me).

I didn't use name on purpose when I registered as my first post was to query the professional conduct of the emigration agency I was using and didn't want them to recognise me if they just so happened to log onto this site.

Issues seem to have been sorted so am now happy to drop the "poacher" (the name of bird of prey my husband once owned) and now going under real first name - promise!!

Raeven
13th September 2004, 12:09 AM
Hi, poacher,

Goodness, no need to use your actual name -- you don't think I'm really called 'Raeven', do you? :D

The details that are important when trying to reply to someone are mainly where they live. It makes some difference in the process if someone is from the UK or if they are from the US -- such as, "should I bring my pets?" If they are from the UK, the process is completely different than if they are from the US.

But Frances is a very nice name!

All the best, Rae

That's all right - don't like my name (makes me sound like an oap) but don't mind people on forum knowing who I really am!!!

We don't care where you're from, or maybe I should say I don't care, shouldn't speak for everybody else. You have as much right as we do to try for PR in NZ and Good Luck to you. :clap That's what the forum is for, so anybody can get information.

I worked with some Filipinos in Hong Kong and I always found your people to be cheerful and friendly. :D

Hi Frances (Nee Poacher),

Just as a matter of interest what species was the bird of prey your partner owned? I was a would be falconer you see and I'm nuts about birds of prey........

I knew the late Phillip Glasier when he had just opened his Bird of Prey Conservation centre at Newent in Glos and I have a first edition signed and corrected copy of his book "Falconry and Hawking"

Only thing of note in NZ is the Harrier and the NZ Falcon.

I'mguessing with name like poacher it was either a Goshawk, a Harris Hawk or a Red Tailed Hawk????

BUT I DIGRESS...... :nice1

Hey Karl, me too. I was really looking forward to having a few raptors in Nz, till I found out that you are not allowed to keep them or practice falconry without a very special license.
I have spent many a happy day with Julian Ford at his centre in Sussex.
Saw loads of birds of prey when in Nz but could not identify them.
It strikes me as the perfect place for falconry, but I guess the indigenous wildlife must come first eh.

Mildred
14th September 2004, 01:35 AM
It was actually a Goshawk. He went out one morning and found a fox had managed to kill it. He was so upset he vowed never to have another one.

This was many years before I met him thank goodness, as I'm vegetarian and couldn't cope with a freezer full of dead chicks!!! Weird thing is hubby has also now gone veggie

Annierobrigado
14th September 2004, 01:23 PM
yes frances, and jes

banks do bleed one dry. i should know, especially in the philippines where they give you only 1% interest for a savings deposit and if you use an ATM, so many fees and charges to pay just to get your money.

and i'm the kind of doctor that has more NC's than PF's. :wah

but, anyway, jes, 2 questions: are you married and do you have kids?

good luck to us!

:? sounds like the bank where i work :uhoh  ... good thing if your savings acct is an ATM card umm if it is a regular passbook, the int is only 0.50% :no. reminder: if the said card is international, do not get money from other banks' ATM machine so that there is no extra cost... same bank withdrawal is free of charge. :nice1

im not married and dont have kids - just nephew (he wants to go to NZ) and niece :clap

This is probably asking too much, but since we're all updating our profiles anyway... Is there any chance some of you folks from the UK could spell out the names of the cities you live in? Names like "Phils" and "Staffs" don't mean much to those of us not from Blighty! :P

We have Fairy Bridge here on the Island. Fairies are said to live in the woods nearby. You have to wave to the fairies as you go over the bridge to ensure safe travel.

You can be sure I'll be doing that as we go to the airport on our way to NZ : :yes

Submitted our EOI 22 Nov, gone to selected already :P :P :P but I'm sure we're in for a long wait though :uhoh
