Hi all,

How long did it take you to settle into job over here? Are you settled?

I have been in post 3 months...and feels like 3 years!!!! Still in the settling in process........

Would be interested to find out how you are all doing....

I read somewhere that you should treat the first three months as part of the interview. After that you'll have had your first wins, your first proper argument, etc. I finally feeling like I'm getting on top of things 4.5 months in. My group's growing and a few people have left, so there are lots of even newer faces around now too - that helps! :)

The danger at 6 months is the dreaded rut. IMHO you have to keep pushing yourself at that stage or you get comfy and kind of plateau.

All depends in what line of employ your in i suppose. As a trucker i have struggled and moved from company to company over the last 2.5 years, but for the last 12 months i have been settled into my current role and feel that this has settled me into NZ employment, so much so that i just may get back out there on the Artic's in the not too distant future.
Think it all falls on how the person feels with their surroundings and the role they have.

I have been with the Hospital for a year now in May.

Its seems like i have always been there and i have to admit i feel settled, and have done for a while. Perhaps its the people i work with and the friends i have made ? Not sure really.

Have to admit, first few weeks i thought ' dont know if this is me' as they messed my pay up to start - which was resolved, and they put me with a bloke to train me that wasnt exactly forthcoming in help.........but i got through it!

I have to say, and you may think i am sad, but i really do love my job!

Have missed your regular posts and updates:)
I am not in NZ yet but even over here it took me a good 6 months to get in to my current role but now I love it and will miss it when we move to NZ.
