Has anyone received their tax returns for this year yet? I'd have thought they'd be here by now.... not that I'm eager to pay or anything :laugh

Nope not yet.
I'm not looking forward to it either as I have to fill out one for me, a couple for the kids and a UK one as well - thats just way too many tax forms for one person to deal with! :wah
Cheers

According to Calendars and Dates (http://www.ird.govt.nz/calendars-dates/reminders/reminder-2008-05-31.html), you should receive it by 31st May

Have you earned any money while here in New Zealand that wasn't taxed at source? Did you earn any money in the UK that wasn't taxed there? If no to both then I don't think you need to worry....
... or, do those with big savings accounts in NZ have to do tax forms or is that accounted for in withholding tax taken direct from bank accounts?

If you arrived or left NZ part way through a tax year then you will need to fill in an IR3.
Otherwise, you should ask for a personal tax summary which will list what tax you have paid. If you disagree with it, then you need to fill in an IR3 so that it can be checked.
But as Moorf says, normally, if you are an employee, your bank has the correct tax code for you and you don't have any other forms of income then there is nothing that you need to do.

But didn't you arrive part way through the tax year?
If you did then you should fill in an IR3, or at least check with IRD if you need to.

You guys are wonderful, it never occurred to me when I was out of work, changed jobs 3 times that they owed me money. Used the online form and looks around $4,000!!!rebate in tax for last 2 years.
Just need to get summary of earnings and fill out forms. No one gives you wage slips over here...naughty.
Will keep you posted as to how and if I get it.
