and suddenly it all seems a bit more real!!

I went back to school on Monday and decided that it was time to have a chat to the Head about my plans. The whole of the rest of the staff know and talk about it with me but it's not a conversation I've ever had with him, although he's not stupid so was aware. Decided I had to do it now partly because I need letters etc for NZQA/teacher's council but mainly because it's the time of year that we start thinking about which teachers go to which year groups/classes etc and so that fact that I'll almost definitely finish at Christmas is a consideration for all sorts of reasons and I don't want to leave people any more in the lurch than I need to. He was very supportive and offered to do whatever he could in terms of references etc. What else can he say?

I feel good now it's 'out there' and it all feels more real and really quite exciting! Life is good. :nice1

Well done, it's a bit scary isn't it talking to your Head teacher or at least it was for me as I wanted her to be supportive but knew it would rock the boat for the school. Better out than in though and now you'll find references to NZ crop up all the time!

Tell me about it! We were able to have an open conversation in our leadership meeting tonight about who should go to which class without me wishing the ground would open and swallow me up! Everyone else has tried so hard not to talk about it when he's been around so it's great - and this has been a subject of discussion for 2 years!!
