I have got registration to practice within NZ as a midwife and therefore my qualifications have been looked into and verified within the council . Do I also need to get them verified for PR ie NZQA or will my certificates including registration be OK .

ITS JUST I am getting fedup with the paperwork and cost - if I need to photocopy my passport one more time I am going to scream

sarah thanks in advance :(

Hi,

My name is Tim and the answer is NO. I am in a similar situation as yourself in that I am a Registered Operating Department Practitioner and in order for me to gain employment in NZ I must be registered with my regulatory body.

You are therefore exempt NZQA assessments.

When I asked the same question to immigration, this is the reply I received:

Dear Tim

Thank you for taking advantage of our Online Help facility.

If you gain full registration in New Zealand then the registering body is considered to have accepted that your qualification is at an appropriate level and you would not need to get your qualification assessed by the NZQA.

Kind Regards,

Steven
Customer Service Officer
Department of Labour

Hope this helps??

The important issue is to get registered ASAP as you cannot do anything until you are.

Tim.

Ditto - I asked the NZQA and they confirmed that I didn't need to get it checked by them.

Hi Sarah, our flights are booked for 19th Sept and I start work on 6th Oct at Chch Hospital. Just waiting for house to go through - our buyer has had a little trouble with her mortgage (due to the current credit crunch a lot of mortgage deals are no longer available).

Where do you want to head for and when?

Hi Sarah,

We're only at the EOI selected stage and am currently job hunting. I'm signed up with Tonix at the moment but have given them a list of 4 destinations that we fancy moving too so have made it pretty difficult.

Hope all goes well,

Tim.
