We applied for PR under the skilled migrant category and have been invited to apply for a work to residence visa. They want us to prove that we have enough money to survive for three months and that we have enough money for the flight home should we need it.

We will not have this money until we complete on the house as we are planning to use some of our equity to finance the move.

My question is this, my solicitor is willing to provide written evidence of what will be left after finalising the house sale, do you think this will be enough proof for the immigration officer. We need to apply for our work to residence visa before the house goes through as we need to ship our goods and don't want to have to pay GST.

Has anyone been in this situation and what did you do, any help would be much appreciated.

I think that you are probably going to too much trouble (and probably not acceptable anyway). If you have a credit card available then just ensure that there is sufficient credit available on it.

From immigration website Visitors to NZ (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/visit/visitors/) which details the sort of evidence and amounts needed.

Could you please tell me why they gave a WTR instead of PR to you? May i ask how many points you had when u submitted your ITA? I have submitted my ITA with 110 points and no job offer. I am worried of getting a WTR instead of PR. Good luck to you on job offers.
