I'm about to head out and make photocopies for NZQA, however I've just realised that if I open the school transcripts then they are no longer official so how am I supposed to copy them? We really don't need them back. So could we just send a statement that we don't need the transcripts back or will they charge us?

open them i reckon - they are your property.

But they are not official by my schools rules if they are opened.

I think they'll count as certified copies for which they do not return the originals?
