I felt we were destined not to submit our ITA. The first time we tried we had aproblem with my daughters x-ray. That has now been resolved and we went along to NZ house yesterday to submit it. We got there at 3.45pm only to find they shut at 3.45pm. I qwas sure it was 4.30pm they shut. I think they could tell I was annoyed at miyself and they called a nice man down form immigration who, althoug he couldn't check the ITA & documents, took it from me and assured me it would be looked at on Monday. I told him that I had included the original documents as well as copies instead f certified copies and he said they would be returned by courier. So now we just sit and wait (well not quite!!). I have emailed my visa officer to let her know I have handed it in and for her to confirm she gets it on Monday. :raebanana

Well done you! It's been a bit of a stressful ride hasn't it? HOpe you hear soon. I'm impressed you've booked your first week;s accomadation & flights too!
Can I ask how you handed in all your doc? In lots of envelopes?Ours is all on a ring binder but I nkow they don't want that, but loose in a box file seems so sloppy....

We took ours just in an envelope. We had a covering letter which acted like an index ie the order of documents and papers and a one line explaination of what they were for such as 'evidence of living together - marriage cert. mortgage statements, utility bills.'
Our CO whizzed through this very quickly - they know what they are looking for and used to doing it although it may look disorganised to us.
(our CO just happened to be on duty at the time)

Hi Mels, my CO is Maxine Little and so far she has been really good in answering my questions. I too handed mine in in a big envelope with a covering letter listing the order items were in and how many ie passports x5 etc... Hope it will be ok as I wasn't able to explain any of it to anyone.
When do you hope to be in NZ? We will be there in Sept - my job starts 6th Oct.
I'm impressed you've booked your first week;s accomadation & flights too!
I had to do something and also the flights we wanted at the times we wanted seemed to sell out pretty quick. I am one of these people who like to get things done in plenty of time so is OH. With 5 of us travelling I didn't want to leave it to the last minute before we booked the accomodation.

Sounds good Nickydwuk.
We had originaly hoped to be flying out on Tuesday coming!!!!
However we have heard nothing from NZIS apart from 'ITA is in process' and I'm fretting as others have got their ITA to PR much quicker recently, either days or a matter of a couple of weeks!
I have removal quotes ready and even flights reserved for June but no idea when PR will be approved. OH has a job offer and was going to start in April, then May, now ?June.
At least we have more time to sell house. But I want to get gone!!!

Frustrating for you Mels indeed.
Big and I mean BIG envelope will do then, our file is fat because of all my supply work. Maxine is also our CO and also has answered a couple of queries very quickly......ohh so real now! Let's tell her we're both perfect for NZ; 2 families of 5 is just what they want!
Nickdwuk, just envious that you've done so much ahead of time; we daren't book flights or anything else yet in case it all takes longer than planned. Perhaps once ITA is in, we'll do so as you've done Mels.

Huge congrats Nicky, It will all come good and it is another huge box ticked. NZIS held onto our passports for months as we hadn't sold the house and weren't ready to go. I found them very efficient and we got the passports/visas etc back in time etc.

I agree with you Carey- families of 5 is what they want.
We booked flights etc... as I saw the prices rising and availability dropping. I am also quietly confident that we will be granted PR. They extimate between 3 weeks & 3 months - we don't fly our for nearly 5 month so plenty of time to get it sorted. If it takes longer (I hope not) I will apply for a work permit until PR comes through. :yes

just wanted to say good luck and hope it all comes through quickly. as you are a nurse i am really interested in your journey through all the stages. i can just imagine the frustration getting to nz house and finding it closed, all the stress and frustration of the whole process must have come flooding out. it only takes something like that to finish you off. thank goodness for nice little men that what i say!!!!
you say about problems with your daughters x rays, i read about it in one of your earlier postings. i am dreading medicals, knowing our luck there will be something. it is typical! we have all the qualifications and work experience they need, got 250 points and they should be gagging for us, but bet they find something wrong (probably me!) on the medicals. I hate going to hospitals/doctors, could retch at thought (why i am a nurse!!!!!!!!!!!), so will be wreck leading up to medicals, imagination will be working overtime.
Thinking about medicals can anyone recommend a doctor on the panel around the midlands and a bit north or south (not that i am wanted to get a dodgy doctor or anyone who will be open to bribes!).
what does CO stand for? we are using an agent, will be get one?
good luck

Hi there
CO stands for Case Officer. We used a fab docs in Gloucester. Is that too far away for you? Reading your worries about the Xrays and medicals reminds me so much of myself...I was so sure something would stop us from coming to NZ, but here we are :raebanana
You will be too. They want you and they genuinely won't turn you away unless there was something drastically wrong ;)

Thanks Willow. We were sweating on the medicals. Like you, I thought it would be me or OH. I was panicking about my waist measurement and wouldn't have any chocolate or anything leading up to it. So we were really pleased that we were both ok. So we were gobsmacked when they said it was my daughters x-ray that was the problem. Thankfully it turned out ok in the end. Like you say - with all our experience & skills it would have to be something really disasterous to keep us out.
As an afterthought - if all kiwi's are as nice as the 'very nice man' at NZ house then we should have a fab time. (My daughter thought he was rather dishy - hmmmmm will have to watch her:laugh )

We had Maxine Little as our CO last year and she was great. Really helpful when we realised the PR wouldn't be through in time for OH to start work. She recommended he get a Work Permit and that worked out great, he just cross referenced to our ITA when doing the paperwork.
So he flew out early July on Work Permit then came back for a week in early August to collect me and our DS and most importantly for a visit to NZ House with our passports to get our Blue Stickers!
Good luck with it all everyone!

hey willow,
you have to use one of the approved panel doctors, which limits your options for medical in the UK.
We used Handsworth Wood Medical in Birmingham, who were okay, if a bit slow in getting back to us sometimes (they seemed to have their answering machine on a lot!)

I didn't think they were okay actually. Given how much we were paying them, I thought they were shockingly unresponsive. But maybe they're all the same - we didn't exactly try a selection.
Everybody who's commented says Maxine Little is very helpful. Sounds like she's been there a while so must know what she's doing.

I still feel we are destined not to get our PR. After submitting our ITA on Friday I got a call from my credit card company today checking up on some transactions (anti-fraud thing they do on occasions). They informed me that they had STOPPED the transaction from NZIS - WHAT!!!!!! I immediately tried to ring Maxine (my CO) but she is not in today so I left a message. I just hope they re-present it ASAP. Why does this happen to me ?????
