I am interesting in the "difference" between north island asnd south island or between cities in NZ that they have found their asthma, ezcema or allergies is improved or worse??
Having been staying with my sister for a week in Auckland, I have notice their ezcema is worse and finally straw today my 27 months old had an allergy reaction at butterfly creek that she has "skin contract" type to what we don't know (not food this time btw), possible grass pollens in this time of year????

When we were in Canterbury for summer holiday my eczema improved noticeably in the few days we were there....it was much less humid that Auckland area. I suppose this is because less sweaty skin causing irritation and also less bacteria growing on skin in dryer climate (ezcema sufferers have up to 30 times the amount of certain bacteria on skin compared to people with normal skin...causes more frequent bacterial infections and inflamed skin etc).
Oil seed rape fields cause me major hassle with eczema and asthma at certain times of year, and hay fields can affect me too.
Did you go near any animals? Guinea-pigs are another major cause of allergy problems...usually far worse reaction than dogs/rabbits/most farm animals etc.

In fact, no we didn't as we just use their playground and cafe plus went on train ride (rip-off! $4.50 per adult for just few mins ride around the lake twice!!!) She was ok before she went on playground then I brought her into cafe for lunch when I notice her face, arms and neck were bright red patches before hive/blisters outbreak. So the trigger is around the playground....
Coming home tonight, first thing I notice as I come out of chch airport is the difference in the air that chch is more fresher, ahhh bliss..did anyone notice it?

I get reaction just like that to some cleaning chemicals  and once to either bacteria or weedkiller in soils (never found out which one) when I was taking soil samples for pedology course at uni. It also got worse when I was in sun, so had to keep skin covered up:(

Iv' e lived in various provinces on both Islands, and suffer from seasonal hayfever. Sadly the worst place for hayfever for me, is Hawkes Bay.
The closer I' am to the coast the better I feel. Lots of people are allergic to pine tree pollen too which is a major problem if you live in the Rotorua region.
I always thought that asthma rates in Christchurch were high . Off the top of my head Im sure Christchurch has the highest SIDS rate in the country .

Oh no! Hope she gets better. Allergies and the lot can be aweful, and awefully hard to pinpoint the triggers.
I'm interested in people chiming in on this issue because I've not moved to NZ yet but I am hoping it will not be too bad, I already have allergies and asthma.
Can you get allergy immunotherapy, and is it expensive? I've heard it can work wonders.

Don't know about immunotherapy, suggest to try NZ allergy (www.allergy.org.nz/) website for more advice.
I been told to be careful with other "options" so I have controlling their ezcema, allergies and asthma by remove the "triggers" but not easy. Pollens is something you can't remove but can reduce. Our bigger problems is spring times when our crop of hay is in mature stages ready for cut and bale up. Last year, we went out of way during cutting & baling.
You can PM what allergies do you have that I might able to give info on allergies in NZ.
