Bites that bleed

My OH had a bite, (looked like a normal mozzie bite), which he scratched and loads of blood came out. It was on the bottom part of his leg and the blood soaked the bottom of his trousers, I assume because it wasn't clotting?
Has this happened to anyone else or should we be concerned?
Cheers

Asked OH (blood is his thing) and he said bleeding time is about 5-6mins before it stops and that's without fiddling with it.. He also said any blood looks a lot more than it actually is but if persists in bleeding then maybe worth getting checked out. Some bites apparently can contain stuff that might slow down clotting too so maybe just keep an eye on it :yes Also worth pointing out OH not a doctor ;)

I got bitten in the uk by some small critters, on the ancle area. They did bleed quite badly and failed to heal, after about 1 week I was having trouble walking on the leg as they had become infected. A dose of antibiotics cleared it up though, I would just keep an eye on them but if the leg starts to swell it would be worth seeing the Dr IMHO.
Hope this helps

I would say any excess bleeding should be checked out.... sounds a bit unusual to me;.. and myself and DH have had plenty of bites, none of them have behaved this way...

Tia,
I had some bites a couple of months ago that didn't bleed much, but 'oozed' for a couple of days. Like a runny clear liquid. Fairly gross!

This is happening to me & thought it was a super sandfly or summat. Have a big bleeder on my wrist at the mo but usually have them round the ankles. Typical sandfly territory. So is there another little so & so on the scene?

If I get bitten around the ankles then it will always either bleed or ooze. So sounds normal to me!

Thanks everyone!
The bite was just under his knee and bled to the extent that he had to make a makeshift bandage and wrap it round his leg (he was in a meeting when it happened).
I will get him to keep an eye on it, I'd like him to go to the doctors but I think his leg would have to be hanging off before he'd agree to go.

Once your leg is hanging off there is no point going to the doctors as they won't be able to fix it.
Best bet is to go to a pub where the beer and rugby will take your mind off it! :)

:laugh He'd be with you on that one, except he's not one for sport so it would have to be beer and whiskey.

Ah but you see "Man Flu" can only be caught by men. Due to woman's genetic structure she will only ever feel the "Man Flu Virus (whingius inbedicus)" as a "slight sniffle".
Men, however, get the full blown attack of this virus on their Y chromosome which, if I'm being truthful, would probably kill most women were you to experience even 50% of its severity.
And the whining, complaining and inability to get out of bed for anything is actually one of the symptoms brought about entirely by the virus attacking parts of your brain! :)
