We are Laura (kiwi) and my husband James (British). Ive been in UK 10 years and we are migrating to NZ in October.

Immigration process started this week with James getting his xray, then medical on Friday. James is already feeling humiliated at the thought of urine and blood tests (especially since it was so easy for me to come to the UK), but thems the breaks eh!

I just wish could click my heels together and be there now. Its all so exciting :)

Hope the process is going well for anyone reading this. Im sure there will be lots of questions from me as we go along but hopefully I can help others too.

Hi and welcome. We're abit like you guys except OH is the Kiwi (and has been here 12 years) and I'm the one who had to jump through hoops to get PR - and I can see where you're coming from about your easy entry to UK!! Good luck with it all.

Welcome to the forum, my partner (Kiwi) and I (British) have also recently started the Partner Visa process. I'm beginning to realise that despite the detailed gathering of information to prove our genuine and stable relationship, this is by far the easiest and quickest way to get to NZ. My partner's very excited about returning home to Wellington.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

I got my PR through the partnership category as well, and found it quick and straightforward (but not cheap).

We had kind of anticipated to have to prove our relationshiop at some point, so we actually had been collecting stuff from quite early on in our relationship. We could have bombarded them with phone record/telephone bills from the late nineties, postcards written to each others over a decade, photographs of us together over the years, etc.

In the end, we sent mostly financial things and utility bills, and a few postcards written to us together at the same address.

Good luck,

Daniela

Thanks for all the responses, what a friendly bunch :)

Jaybee, I'm from Titirangi, Auckland. We are going to head to Auckland to start with as thats where my family are but dont want to stay there long term - hopefully move down to Wellington after have spent some time with the family...

Its really nice to touch base with other kiwi/brit couples too. Encouraging to hear its not a difficult process through the partnership category. Although the other half sees it differently right now, but hes the one having the medical!
