Well, where to start. My wife and I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting NZ several years ago for one month and absolutely feel in love with both islands. We have a daughter now and I would love to live in NZ.

I suppose I'm wanting to see if anyone can share any thought regarding a couple of topics. My wife presently works as a technical writer for the Center of Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia in the States. She's quite gifted at health communication writing and editing. I recently left a career in the entertainment business to finish an undergraduate degree in Psychology, with the intentions of continuing with Masters in Social Work, followed by licensure so as to be able to open a mental health practice. I should have the undergraduate degree completed by February of 2009.

Does anyone know if technical health communications writers are sought after in NZ? Also, is anyone aware of positions available with undergraduate Psychology degrees (while I work towards the Masters)? I'm in my early forties and my wife is close behind.

I imagine the larger cities the best option of possible job opportunities?
I know it's not cheap to up and move to NZ and we do have a 3 year old daughter, so we clearly have to make some wise choices.

Welcome to the forum Andre and family. Hope you enjoy good luck on your quest... Can't really help on the medical side of things, but the cities are rightly favourable as you say.

Just want to welcome you to the forum, hope you get as much use out of it as I have done over the years.
