Out of interest, has anyone moved from the north island (Wellington) to the South island (Christchurch) ?

If so, can I be nosy and ask how much removal companies have charged to pack up and move your stuff?
(average 4 bedroomed house)

Sure someone can tell you there with that but I thought let you know that there is company called Canterbury Bulk (www.canterburybulk.co.nz/About.asp) that we used few times and very impressed with them for move cars from north island to south island (chch).

We'll be interested in this too......we will be moving from Auckland to Canterbury later this year and have no idea how much it'll cost us yet :confused:

i can't remember anyone else bringing it up on here in recent times, but I'm sure the NZ moving companies would be delighted to offer people quotes with no obligation :)

I know a few people have done this, thought they might like to weigh in.

the only threads I could think of were those where people had just moved over and the shipping companies sent the stuuff from say auckland to dunedin or similar, which weren't much help :)

Thanks to dusk for suggesting a call (seem to have forgotten how to do that--I want ALL my answers via the internet)

Spoke with ChCh Removals and he told me that it is @$3300 +GST for a 20' container from Canterbury to Auckland. (I stuck with the size we all understand)
He said a 20' container was about 33 sq. meters and it was @ $100 per meter. (not including packing)
He said it would take between 2 and 3 days for delivery in Auckland. (move via truck)

I did specifically ask--price would be about the same in the other direction as well, FoM.

Now we all know!!

We had Grace Removals (http://www.grace.com.au/) as our freight forwarder whilst moving from the UK to North Canterbury... the 3 guys who unloaded our container were careful, friendly and helpful :nice1

They have offices in Wellington, Auckland & Christchurch and are highly rated in Australia.
