...meaning that we sent off our ITA and documents today!

What a relief! No more having to keep everything slavishly in a lidded box away from our little boy's (and our) sticky food. No more having to make sure we haven't inadvertently slipped empty beer bottles between the birth certificates and marriage papers. Yay!

If it is of interest to Americans, we used the USPS-DHL Global Guaranteed service. We sent two thick piles of papers (the first thick enough to have to be clipped with a fairly large pincher-style binder clip, the second with a small clip) and the cost was $53. Blikes! :eek But this service guaranteed tracking through the US and UK. The USPS guy I talked with said he is leery of the $20-$30-range services as some countries don't carry on the barcode-bleeping tracking mechanism once the package gets outside the US.
He didn't "talk me into" the $53 service this way... I just wanted to err on the side of caution.

Anyone know whether NZIS accepts anything on Saturday? If not, USPS guy said it'll be signed for on Monday.

Cheers, :nice1
Matt.

Well depends if there is a person (security guard usually ) that can sign and accept your docs on the weekend in the NZIS office. But as long as you have tracking, it'll get there. Best of Luck. :nice1

Hi guys,
Did you send a pre-paid envelope for returning your original documents? Some people were actually instructed that they could do this.

It's not mandatory. The instructions say something like 'send a pre-paid or courier envelope with your docs. if you want your docs. to be tracked or handled v.carefully on their way back'.
We didn't. In the blur of revising our pack, making amendments to the oddly changed EOI*, staying up 'til 1.30am, etc., to try to get the papers right, we didn't fancy tackling that whole transatlantic pre-paid what-postage this-or-that affair.

(*-and then heroically reporting them to the forum to help the known world :laugh )

Cheers,
Matt.
