Can anyone give me examples of term dates for the polytechnics?
Do they run the same as the UK i.e. from Sept to June?

No. All main levels of education in NZ follow the same pattern - there is a long summer holiday over Christmas and New Year, and a new academic year begins around the beginning of February. If you look up whatever polytechnic you're interested in, their website will have their term-dates, like this one for instance. http://www.openpolytechnic.ac.nz/choosingtostudy/keydates/keydates

I was looking for term dates to judge when the best time to send off a CV was to be considered as staff for the new acedmic year.
February is a good starting time. :)
