Hi!

We are renting out our flat in London; it is located in a mansions block and managed by a management company that holds a building insurance which covers all the flats. Our letting agent recommended that we obtain an insurance that includes public liability so that if there is, for instance, a leak from our washing machine which causes damage to the downstairs flat, we will be covered. We do have such a cover through the building insurance where a leak from a communal pipe is concerned, but not when it comes to our personal effects. I searched everywhere but can’t find ‘public liability’ insurance anywhere. Can anyone help?

Hi Caroline and Dave

Thanks for the links, it seems that the first will solve our problem providing that we join the NLA (and according to the helpful lady on the other side of the line, this is simply a matter of £80). We are off to Wellington tomorrow so not much time left to sort it all out... Luckily there is always e-mail.

Again, many thanks.
Hila

No problem at all. we have been members of the UK landlords association for years and they are very helpful. It is worth the fee as you recuperate that in knowledge. Any problem with tenants etc they will put you in the right direction

So glad we could help
