Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening (depending where you are)
We are the Taylor family from sunny Manchester and we are hopefully about 2-3 moths away from moving to Auckland. We first thought about emigrating to New Zealand about 2 years ago, and having visited twice over the last couple of years are now close to fulfilling our dream. But the closer everything seems to get, the more doubts we have, especially having two girls aged 10 and 4. Are we doing the right thing for them and us? I suppose everyone goes thru this stage????
I am close to agreeing an IT job offer in central Auckland, but we will be renting then buying in Stanmore Bay/Manly area. Bit apprehensive of being on our own, but hopefully we can make lots of new friends really quickly.
Any advice/encouragement most gratefully accepted.
Look forward to speaking to you all.
David and Andrea.

Hi David & Andrea
Welcome to the forum, we're not too far away from you... Poynton, near Macclesfield.
You're right, we all go through the apprehensive stage... but we're convinced it's the best thing for us and especially our 5 year old son.
Hopefully heading for Christchurch (depending on OH landing nursing position)... we'll see what develops over the coming months!!!
Keep us posted how you get on :nice1

Welcome to the forum.
It is a very emotional time, and I guess you can never be certain you are doing the right thing. I think it's important to remember that, for me anyway, you have to try these things. I would hate to be a few years down the line and find that we've left it too late to even 'try it out' (which it will be for us if we leave it much longer :uhoh ). I just think that if things don't work out then you can always come back, but I'll be glad I tried. My children are quite a bit older and it is scary to think that at the end of the day they just might decide not to come with us, and then what do I do..........:wah
One thing I have found since using this brilliant forum is that you are certainly not alone. You will find that there is just so much support both in your home country and in NZ.
Best of luck with your plans.

Welcome to the forum!
We were living in Manchester just prior to coming here and although Manchester is lovely, Auckland is much nicer, I'm sure you'll all love it.
(And if you don't, you can always go back.)
I think everyone panics a bit before leaving, I know I did!
Good Luck

Welcome Taylors!! Yes, we all get the jitters sometimes, only natural with such a huge undertaking!
All I can say is that we moved from the north-west, have no regrets.
Good luck

Welcome to the Forum Taylor family and good luck with the rest of your move. As said before by everyone else, its only natural to have a few jitters and we've all been there at least once or twice. Feel free to vent on here as there are a wonderful bunch of supportive folks who can lend you an ear or shoulder if you need it. :)
It varies for everyone but be prepared to take some time settling in, we've been in Auckland for 9 mths now and I'm just about beginning to think that maybe, just maybe it will all be OK.

PS; think its the best think we've every done as far as its concerned for our son who was 5yrs old when we moved.

Hello there. We moved to Nelson from Sale ,Manchester almost 2 years ago. (Hubby and 2 boys now 7 and nearly 4) andYour feelings are part of the course. You will be sad to leave but your new adventure of life here will keep you busy for a long time. Highs and lows , feeling sure and not so sure will be feelings you will experience for some time. It is all worth it. We are settled now and have no regrets. Enjoy the ride . A truly fulfiling life experience.
ALL THE BEST. ANGELA AND FAMILY.

Hello and welcome.
You've been brave enough to introduce yourself to the nut jobs on this forum, so you'll probably be fine :)
Seriously, there is always someone willing to offer advice here or simply empathise with your mental trauma's.
