Hey everyone,
I have been a long time lurker but now, I finally have a question. :) By the way, this is an awesome site! Okay, my husband and I are putting plans in motion to move to New Zealand. We are working on our EOI's. :) But we have one question, do the both of us have to fill out an EIO each, or can we apply together? I think I may know the answer but wanted to make sure. :) Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Welcome to the forum & good luck on your journey. In answer to your question - only one EOI is needed but you have to decide who is the principal applicant. Ideally this would be the one who gets most points for work etc... Then you include partner & children. You can claim points fro partners work & experience too. Have you checked the http://www.immigration.govt.nz/pointsindicator/ first to see who is the best prospect?

Hey thanks. :) I thought that was the case but hubby and I wanted to make sure. I will pass this along to him. :)
Oh, to answer your question, we have a weird situation. I checked mine to see how I was, points wise, 110. Hubby has not checked his yet. The thing is, I have a Master's in Psychology and have been working in research for 5 years. However, it is not a profession in high shortage or future growth. However, my husband has over 18 years of experience in computers, very very good with them. His work is in the shortage list but he does not have a degree. So, just skimming over the quick assessment for my husband, it puts him at 115 or so if he were to be in the principle applicant. Hope this makes sense.
Again, thanks for your help. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum! :D
If either of you gets a job offer, that's an extra 50 points.
Good luck with all of your plans!

Hi there Kellbell and welcome to the forum
Where in CO are you? We are in Boulder and are at the far end of the process (getting ready to move to Nelson in August). I am in IT but my degree is not in Comp Sci, so my situation is similar to your husband's.
If you want to have a small Rocky Mountain meet up to chat, let me know.

To dbonnett,
My husband and I live in the Denver Metro. We are about to put our house up for sale, we meet with the realitor on Saturday. :uhoh We have been cleaning, de-trashing, yikes. So much to do. We are going to submit our EOI's very soon. Just about completed.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I am sure I will be back with more questions. :laugh

Oh boy, I feel your pain! We should go on the market early next week - just had the house painted and the wood floors are being re-done this weekend (after the couches and piano go bye-bye!).
After driving US 36/I-25 to Cherry Creek and back today, I can't wait to leave the interstates behind... :exit
We just sold tons o' things last weekend via garage sale/craigslist. We were surprised at how good it felt to watch all of the accumulated stuff go into other people's cars - we want to slim down to fit in a 20' container but have a ways to go (80 boxes of books and 8 bikes!).
Let us know if we can help in any way!

Hello and welcome.
Sounds like you're in a similar position to the one we were in point-wise.
I have no degree, but over ten years IT experience, so had more points than OH as long as my dodgy old qual. in an unrealted field counted for something. It did (still amazed).
If they hadn't counted mu qual. we would have changed EOI to have OH as principle applicant.
Worked for us.

Okay,
I just ran all my husband's stuff, his qualifications, work experience and so forth and we have 135 points!!! Thank goodness for IT and him having over 15 years of experience! And that his work is in the shortage list.
So, we are going to look it over one time and should submit it this weekend! :clap
Again, thanks for the warm welcome. :)
