At last, I have an interview for a place on the one year Early Childhood Education graduate diploma distance-learning course. Luckily my job is not dependent on the outcome but it would be so much easier if I do get a place and can start soon.
So please wish me luck! Also hoping our one last documnet will arrive this week so we can submit our ITA.....could be an exciting week; pity I've got reports to start thinking about in between !

Hey congratulations! Sounds like a step in the right direction.
I also have an interview coming up. It's a post grad course in the UK though, so not as exciting as yours!! If I get a place and complete the course I am going to get is assessed by NZQA, and with a bit of luck it'll speed up our journey.
Good luck with your interview, if it's distance learning does that mean you can study from the UK?

Good luck for yours Helen; no only distance-learning from within NZ, it couldn't be that easy could it!?

Any interview tips Liz? I've had 2 phone interviews before but not for Uni places. Don't presume they're very different but did you have to emphasise your reaons for studying in NZ?

Good luck for this evening Carey.
I went through a couple of uni interviews a couple of years ago, UK though. More recently I have had e-mail 'conversations' with Auckland Uni. but now, hopefully, ending up in Welly. As a 'mature' student they wil treat you differently. Just be yourself and your maturity, knowledge and commitment will come through. I think generally mature students are appreciated as they add a wealth of experience and insight to the studying process.
Just read that again - when I say mature I don't mean 'old' or any thing - oh eek I'll quit now while I'm behind :exit
Good luck :nice1

I have great sympathy for you. Knowing what reports, teaching and summer term are like without the prospect of emigrating and all that entails. To top it off, no summer holiday!
You sound very calm tho!
Have you sold your house?

Just had interview and YAY been offered a place! However suggested I defer until Jan which is actually much better so we can get settled in before I start studying full-time as well as working full-time!
Yes casltleclan, it is a bit full on at the mo., reports looming and not quite sure how I'm going to get them done! yes house is sold but not exchanged yet. And kids pretty miffed at loss of summer hol; well they'll get about 4 weeks so not too terrible!
Thanks for your good wishes all, its all coming together at last. Must be that maturity coming thro' eh Mels?!

Congrats on the uni offer, fingers crossed for house exchange! :cheers
Don't worry about the kids missing their summer holiday. Our DS got his as we left in August 07 but was a nightmare to keep occupied by the time we got him signed up with school here in NZ, he was desperate to get back and play with kids of his own age.

Congrats - I'm just coming to the end of my Post Grad at the Business School. Been a great experience but hard work as the job has been very busy during this period as well. It helps that Fletchers paid for it all as well :):cheers

Ahh, Thanks Vicki, that's really decent of you coz I know there must be a touch of envy there, would be if it was the other way round!, but your turn will come......gee this does so remind me of trying to get pregnant, everyone else does before you (well in my case they did), and then when it happens to you, you almost feel guilty, coz of those who are still waiting. But I bet you'll look back on this time in future years and wonder why you fretted so much. just need that crystal ball don't you ?
Very best of luck being sent you way right now!

I caught it ;) it flew past the back door just as I was coming in from watering my tomatoes - I've rushed around the house with it and done a little boogie to the radio. Its going to hang around here it said until its job is done. (He was rather proud of doing such good work for you lately!).
